Bruins Head Into Spring Feeling
Strong |
With the Fall season wrapping up, the Bellevue University
baseball team has moved their focus to overall strength building and
conditioning. The baseball oriented-program is designed to benefit players
throughout the long Spring season.
To accommodate the Bruins’ up-tempo style of play the team works
with the Strength and Conditioning Trainers at Omaha’s Going Vertical facility.
This state-of-the-art 25,000 square foot facility is the Bruins home leading up
to the start of the season. The focus of working out at Going Vertical is on
speed, agility, strength building, and overall conditioning. The results of the
program are evident in the 165 stolen bases the team accumulated during the 2005
season.
The team also has access to Bellevue’s Powerhouse Gym, located
minutes from campus. The focus while at Powerhouse is geared more towards the
strength building facet of our program. The dedication to the weight room, and
to the program itself, helped the Bruins be at, or near, the tops nationally in
major offensive and pitching categories. The Bruins finished with an overall
batting average of .361 and a slugging percentage of .529. In addition to the
54-14 record, the Bruin pitchers compiled a staff ERA of 2.78 and amassed 644
strikeouts in just 492 innings. (link here to photos of facilities)
