Coach Evans' success at Bellevue University is unmatched; a record of 885
wins, 411 losses and 1 tie makes Coach Evans the most successful coach in
Bruins Baseball history. Evans has led his team to an unprecedented 18
district or sub-region championships, including the 1995 NAIA National
Championship. Since Bellevue University’s inception into the Midlands
Collegiate Athletic Conference in 1995 the Bruins Baseball Teams have won 15
MCAC Conference League and/or Tournament Championships along with a record
17 NAIA Region and/or Super Regional Championships. This success has been
the direct result of Nine MCAC Baseball “Coach of the Year” Awards for
Evans.
Mike Evans became the head coach of the Bruins Baseball team in 1988 and now
enters his 21th year. Evans began his coaching career in 1975 as Head
Baseball Coach at Creighton Prep High School. In his eight seasons guiding
the Junior Jays, Evans won seven state titles and was named Nebraska "Coach
of the Year" five times.
“Evans' has been recognized for his success with numerous coaching awards including the NAIA National Coach of the Year in 1995 and many Region Coach of the Year awards. Coach Evans also is an assistant professor in the Health and Human Performance Department at Bellevue University.
“The Bruins have earned births to the NAIA World Series 12 out of the past 14 years. The Bruins completed the 2008 season at 52-17 and winning one game at the 2008 NAIA Avista World Series and ranked 11th in the final NAIA Baseball Top 25 National Poll. The Fall of 2009 will mark the 21th year under the guidance of Head Coach Mike Evans.”
