Meet Assistant Coach: Wade Pope |
Wade Pope is in his second year as an assistant coach with the Bruins Baseball
program. For the Bruins Baseball Team, Coach Pope’s off field responsibilities
include: Recruiting, Advance Scouting and Fundraising. Coach Pope’s on field
responsibilities include: Catchers, Hitters and Pitch Calling.
Wade a native of Carthage, MS graduated from Leake Academy High School in 2000.
Wade was a standout student-athlete for the Leake Academy Rebels High School
Baseball and Football teams. Wade then spent the next six years at Dana College
in Blair, Nebraska as a player and assistant coach under Coaches Damon Day and
Chad Gorman prior to joining the Bruins Baseball Family. Four of those six
seasons were spent as a catcher on the Back to Back Great Plains Athletic
Conference Championship Teams in 2003 and 2004.
In addition to his baseball duties at Bellevue University Coach Pope has served
as a Head Coach in the Strike Zone Fall Ball League for the last three years and
worked under Legendary Coach Ron Polk for the last six years at the Mississippi
State University summer baseball camps.
Coach Pope obtained his Bachelor’s degree in Physical Education with an emphasis
in Sports Management while finishing his baseball career at Dana College in
2004. He has recently completed a Maters degree in Exercise Science at the
University of Nebraska at Omaha. Coach Pope is looking forward to competing for
a national championship this coming year with the Bellevue University Bruins.
