Meet Academic Advisor: Judd Patton |
Dr.
Judd W. Patton is a Professor of Economics at Bellevue University and Chair of
the Economics Department. He began his twenty-fifth year at Bellevue University
in the Fall, 2006 and has been the Academic Advisor to the BU Baseball program
since Coach Evans became Head Coach in 1988.
Dr. Patton's educational background includes a B.S. degree in
Chemical Engineering from Grove City College, a Master of Arts degree in
Economics from Youngstown State University, a Master of Philosophy degree from
St. Andrews University in Scotland, and a Ph.D. in Economics from International
College in 1982.
Dr. Patton's teaching career has spanned thirty-three years at
three colleges--Hillsdale College in Michigan, Washington & Jefferson College in
Pennsylvania, and Bellevue University since 1982. In 1980 he received the
"Professor of the Year" award at Hillsdale College from the senior class.
In 1989 Dr. Patton published his first book: Missing Dimensions
in Economics. And in 1996 he published Jefferson's "Bible" -
The Life and Morals of Jesus of Nazareth. The book was distributed to each
Member of Congress in August, 1997 and has been and will continue to be
distributed to all newly elected representatives every two years. The
distribution re-establishes a "lost" tradition that had begun in 1904. Dr.
Patton is currently working on another book entitled, The Maker’s Economics.
Dr. Patton and his wife Jeanne are the parents of three children
-- Janell, Jared, and Jonathan. Jonathan is the Webmaster for the Bruin Baseball
Web site.
