Ball Catching Up with Former Bruins

Also seeing great success this summer was Bellevue alum and Texas native, T.J. Bohn. Bohn was voted by Baseball America as having the Best Outfield Arm in the AA Texas League. He finished 7th in the league in Average at .308 and 6th in Stolen Bases at 27 while chipping in 12 Homeruns and 57 RBI's. The Mariner prospect was named to the 2005 addition of the Texas League All Star Game which helped him earn a promotion from San Antonio to AAA Tacoma of the Pacific Coast League.

Mark Nussbeck a Pitcher on the 1996 Bellevue squad battled back from injuries to post a very solid year within the Cardinals organization. Nussbeck went a combined 6-6 with 2 Saves in 25 games splitting time between AA Springfield and AAA Memphis. He finished with a 3.3 ERA and an impressive 73/14 strikeout to walk ratio over the course of 85.2 innings pitched. Mark is currently pitching in Mexico during the Fall Season.

Recent Bruin standout Ron Madej made a successful transition into the professional ranks compiling a 2.81 ERA and 28 strikeouts in 25.2 innings pitched for the Vancouver Canadians, the Single A affiliate of the Oakland A's. Madej also recieved the opportunity to attend Fall Instructional League in Arizona, a league set aside for organizations' prospects to attain further learning and experience.

Many other former student-athletes that honed their skill wearing the Bruin purple and gold had successful seasons in professional baseball. Check our Pro Bruins section for 2005 statistics.
