Bellevue University:
Jason Ashcroft (Biology), Luke Faxon (PE), Ian Hagan (Broadcasting), Mark Pisel
(Business), Derek Waddoups (PE). More names to be added each year!
2005 All Americans and Draftees:
Pitcher Jess LaCasse was named 1st Team All American and was a 27th round draft
pick of the Oakland A's. Ron Madej, a Lefthanded Pitcher from Omaha, was also
drafted by the Athletics in the 26th round. Scotty Madsen was named All American
Honorable Mention as a Shortstop, as was Omaha native Joe Evans at 2B and
Catcher Tycen Povey. Evans and Madsen both return anchoring the middle of the
infield.
Catching Up
with Former Bruins:
Former Bellevue 1B Randy Ruiz came up just short of winning the Triple Crown
in the AA Eastern League. Ruiz finished 1st in Average .349, 2nd in Homeruns 27,
and 4th in RBI's with 89. For his efforts Randy was named to the Eastern League
All Star Team. In addition to his work as a Phillie farmhand, he participated in
the World Cup of Baseball in the Netherland with Team Puerto Rico. Ruiz finished
the tournament batting .346 with 2 homeruns including a 3 for 4 day against Team
USA.

Three Bruins sign with professional organizations:
Mark Goodman and Dan Burkhart with the Mesa Miners and Rob Worth with the Sioux
Falls Saints. Mark Goodman struck out Ricky Henderson in his first outing! And
former BU player, Mark Nussbeck, now with the Memphis Redbirds, pitched two
scoreless innings in relief against the Omaha Royals recently.
